Baja California Sur expects a busy summer season during July. The Ministry of Tourism and Economy (SETUE) estimates an average hotel occupancy rate of 70%, the arrival of more than 390,000 tourists, and an economic impact of 2.069 billion pesos.

The Secretary of Tourism and Economy, Maribel Collins, reported that more than 390,000 tourists are expected to arrive at accommodations throughout the state during July. Average hotel occupancy is projected to reach 70%, while the estimated economic impact is around 2.069 billion pesos, marking the beginning of the summer vacation season.

She noted that these figures demonstrate that Baja California Sur continues to be one of the destinations most attractive to both domestic and international tourists. She explained that many visitors choose the state because of its beaches, gastronomy, outdoor activities, and the wide variety of places they can explore.

She indicated that the state has more than 500 hotels and over 29,000 rooms, providing sufficient capacity to accommodate the expected influx of tourists during the summer vacation period.

She also commented that air connectivity makes it easier for tourists to reach the state and that its various destinations offer experiences for all types of travelers. Activities visitors can enjoy include:

  • Beaches
  • Ecotourism activities
  • Sports tourism
  • Gastronomy
  • Wellness experiences

The secretary explained that this wide range of attractions allows the state to welcome every type of traveler, from those seeking a relaxing beach vacation to those who prefer outdoor adventures or exploring the local cuisine.

She added that tourism remains one of the state’s main economic drivers, generating employment and benefiting hotels, restaurants, businesses, and service providers.

For this summer vacation season, she invited visitors to explore all five municipalities and discover not only their beaches but also their communities rich in history and traditions. Among the destinations she recommended are the state’s three Magic Towns:

  • Todos Santos
  • Loreto
  • Santa Rosalía

She also encouraged travelers to visit rural communities and historic towns, experience the local gastronomy, traditions, and landscapes. If these projections are met, July will become one of the months with the highest number of tourist arrivals in the state this year, driven by the summer vacation season.
