Passengers on a public transport vehicle in Querétaro experienced moments of panic after the driver allegedly attempted to evade an inspection checkpoint set up by the Querétaro State Mobility Agency (AMEQ) and fled with passengers still on board.
According to reports, mobility inspectors signaled the driver to stop; however, he reportedly ignored the order and continued driving, prompting authorities to mobilize in pursuit.
The situation escalated into a chase that began on roads within the state capital and extended to Federal Highway 57, heading toward the Pedro Escobedo area.
During the journey, passengers recorded videos showing the tense atmosphere inside the vehicle. Riders urged the driver to stop, pointing out that his actions posed a risk to everyone on board.
In the videos circulated on social media, passengers can be heard pleading with the driver to stop while expressing concern for the safety of those inside the vehicle.
The chase ended in the municipality of Pedro Escobedo, where State Police officers managed to intercept the vehicle and detain the driver.
So far, authorities have not reported any injuries resulting from the incident, nor have they provided details regarding the driver’s legal status.
The reason why the driver chose to evade the inspection—or whether there were irregularities regarding the transport service’s operations—has not been publicly disclosed.
The incident sparked reactions on social media due to the videos showing passengers’ anxiety during the flight, particularly regarding the danger posed by continuing to drive while authorities attempted to stop the vehicle.
