OPINION: MORENA’S GRAVEDIGGERS IN CAMPECHE:

102

Believing that the ruling party has a sure thing in Campeche and can win the governorship is naive and a false perception of reality, given the enormous setbacks Campeche residents are experiencing under Layda Sansores’ frivolous misrule.

The “Morena” brand will no longer guarantee massive, unthinking votes in its favor in the 2027 election. Its proven links to organized crime in several states, the lack of positive results on issues such as insecurity, economic growth, and job creation, and the brazenness of its leaders flaunting their ill-gotten wealth are causing citizens to lose faith in them.

The imposition of Pablo Gutiérrez Lazarus as the de facto gubernatorial candidate, based solely on his popularity on social media and his attempt to claim credit for being an excellent mayor, is untenable. All he has done is beautify the Playa Norte boardwalk, a project carried out by PRI administrations. The concrete streets were financed by Pemex and the Federal Government, projects that were paid for at double or triple their real cost, and garbage collection is outsourced to private companies. That’s not enough to consider Lazarus a good mayor, especially given that his accomplishments span three three-year terms.

Serious and reputable analysts consider the Campeche governorship lost to Morena and predict that Movimiento Ciudadano, with Eliseo Fernández Montúfar, will be the next government, even though the official election campaign hasn’t even started yet.

Morena in Campeche isn’t going to lose because of the opposition. It’s going to lose because of its own gravediggers: Layda Sansores, who turned the government into a gossip show, and Pablo Gutiérrez Lazarus, the Facebook mayor who in nine years didn’t complete a single project with his own funds and charged triple for everything.

They are the ones who are going to bury Morena in Campeche. And Elisha will thank them at the ballot box.
