Fed up with recurring property damage and severe disruptions during the rainy season, residents and business owners in Puerto Vallarta are strongly demanding that municipal and state authorities implement permanent, structural solutions to address chronic flooding across the coastal destination.
Recent heavy downpours have once again exposed critical vulnerabilities in local infrastructure, causing streets to turn into rushing rivers, overflowing storm drains, and trapping vehicles in vulnerable zones. Neighborhood associations point out that rapid urban development without adequate hydraulic planning has severely restricted natural water runoffs, worsening the crisis year after year.
Local communities are urging authorities to prioritize comprehensive civil engineering projects, including the expansion of drainage systems, river dredging, and better catchment basins. While municipal officials have deployed emergency teams to assist affected areas, citizens emphasize that temporary clean-up efforts are no longer enough and demand immediate, long-term infrastructural investments.
