The RedMetro public transportation system will expand its coverage with new routes that will provide free connections to more than 25 municipalities in the Central, Middle, and Huasteca regions of San Luis Potosí, Governor Ricardo Gallardo Cardona announced.
According to the announcement, some of the new routes will begin operating in September, with the goal of expanding mobility options for thousands of residents of San Luis Potosí and facilitating connections between different regions of the state.
Among the new routes are the Ciudad Valles–Tamazunchale and Ciudad Valles–Rioverde connections. Later, the Rioverde–San Luis Potosí route is expected to be launched, which would create a transportation corridor connecting the Central region with the Huasteca.
Under this system, passengers could travel from the capital of San Luis Potosí to Rioverde, continue to Ciudad Valles, and later reach Tamazunchale through RedMetro connections without paying a fare.
In addition, Ciudad Valles will have a new urban route serving different neighborhoods, with equipped and air-conditioned vehicles. The Rioverde–Ciudad Fernández connection will also begin operating.
In the metropolitan area, a new line will be introduced in Soledad de Graciano Sánchez. It will depart from Palma de la Cruz, pass through the airport, various neighborhoods, and the municipal seat, and continue to the Alameda in the capital. From there, passengers will be able to connect with routes heading toward the Industrial Zone.
Ricardo Gallardo Cardona highlighted that the expansion will cover regional routes that currently lack direct connections and will reduce transportation costs for families.
“All of this is part of RedMetro, 100 percent free transportation,” the state governor said while announcing the expansion of the system.
With the new routes, RedMetro seeks to expand its presence across the main regions of San Luis Potosí and consolidate a transportation network with intermunicipal and urban connections that will facilitate mobility for the population.
