The Inegi has published the 2022 agricultural census, which reports that white corn continues to be the main crop, with 47 percent of the total grown in Mexico
Culiacán, Sin. -Blueberry and agave crops in Sinaloa have had significant growth over the last 15 years, positioning themselves among the main crops grown in the entity, according to the results of the 2022 agricultural census carried out by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).
The results of said study were published this Tuesday, November 21, after 15 years of not having been carried out, since its last exercise dates back to 2007.
The publication marks an important production of blueberries and agave, products that did not feature in Sinaloa crops and are now positioned among the main ones with 2,300 tons of blueberry production and 5,029 tons of agave.
These tons of production occurred between the month of September 2021 and October 2022.
In general terms, Sinaloa continues to position itself as the main producer of white corn, representing 47 percent of the national crop.
During the period from September 2021 to October 2022, 7 million 451 thousand 358 tons of white corn were produced in Sinaloa.
According to the results of the census, Sinaloa has one million 351 thousand 386 hectares of agricultural land and 68 percent corresponds to risk agriculture and 31 percent to temporary agriculture.
