With an atmosphere filled with music, tradition, and northern flavor, the Vaquero Grill & Música Monclova 2026 Festival kicked off Friday night at the Kickapoo Lucky Eagle Stadium, where hundreds of attendees gathered to enjoy the first day of activities, highlighted by a performance from the group La Casetera.
The festival began around 8:00 p.m., with the presence of Mayor Carlos Villarreal, who was accompanied by his wife, Mavi Sosa; the Undersecretary of Government for the Central Region, Sergio Sisbeles Alvarado; and mayors from other municipalities in the region.
After the official opening, the Mayor toured the facilities, starting with the educational booths of the Autonomous University of Coahuila (UAdeC) and the Monclova Frontera Polytechnic University, where he interacted with and took photos with students and teachers in attendance.
During the tour, he also spent time with students from the Technological University of the Central Region of Coahuila, as well as from the Technological Institute of Monclova, who brought their mascots and were dressed in boots and hats.
Later, the Mayor, along with the festival’s kickoff committee, visited the booths in the municipalities of the Central-Desert region, starting with Abasolo, where traditional sweets such as cones, tamarind candies, and cakes were offered.
In Castaños, products such as panela cheese, piquín chili, oregano, and milk candies were on display, while in Candela, traditional desserts like pastries and burnt milk were featured.
The officials’ tour continued through the booths in Escobedo, Lamadrid, and Nadadores, where regional products such as muéganos (a type of fritter), empanadas, bread, and cookies were exhibited.
At the Frontera booth, the Mayor sampled corn on the cob, while in Ocampo, jams, caramelized walnuts, and syrups were presented.
In Sacramento and San Buenaventura, authorities sampled hojarascas (a type of pastry), cheeses, and artisanal bread, while at the Sierra Mojada booth, chicharrones (fried pork rinds), popcorn, and sweets were offered.
The guest municipality, Parras, stood out with handicrafts, accessories, and typical products, including wines and regional sweets.
The festive atmosphere was complemented by live music and the interaction of school mascots, who took the opportunity to pose for photos with attendees.
It is worth noting that the grill and music festival runs from March 27 to 29, with a diverse musical, gastronomic, and cultural offering.
The group La Casetera performed on the first night, while the group Pesado is scheduled to perform this Saturday.
Starting at 6:00 p.m., the public began entering the venue, enjoying sets by local DJs before the main show.
The event features an alternate stage for local talent, as well as a large gastronomic area with capacity for 600 people, where restaurants from the region such as Boruca and Campanario participate.
