A coordinated operation involving federal and state authorities resulted in the arrest of six alleged members of the criminal group “La Empresa,” which authorities identify as a generator of violence in the state of Morelos.
The operation took place during the early morning as part of the National Strategy Against Extortion and coincided with President Claudia Sheinbaum’s visit to the state, according to Omar García Harfuch, Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection.
In a statement shared on social media, García Harfuch reported that authorities executed three search warrants in the municipalities of Atlatlahucan, Yautepec, and Yecapixtla.
The suspects are allegedly linked to crimes including extortion, protection rackets, and drug distribution.
They were also subject to arrest warrants for organized crime and drug-related offenses.
Where Were the Suspects Arrested?
The operation was carried out jointly by the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), the National Guard, the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), and the Morelos Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection.
Authorities executed three search warrants in Atlatlahucan, Yautepec, and Yecapixtla, where the six individuals identified as alleged members of “La Empresa” were arrested.
Operations Against Extortion in Morelos
García Harfuch stated that, between October 1, 2024, and June 30, 2026, coordination between the Federal Security Cabinet and the Government of Morelos resulted in the arrest of more than 2,000 people for high-impact crimes.
During the same period, authorities seized:
- 519 firearms
- More than 14,000 rounds of ammunition
- 858 kilograms of drugs
In addition, authorities dismantled six clandestine methamphetamine production laboratories.
Sheinbaum Visits Morelos
President Claudia Sheinbaum arrived Friday morning at the 24th Military Zone in Cuernavaca, where she held a meeting with the security cabinet and participated in the federal government’s morning press conference.
She later traveled to Zacatepec and Xoxocotla for two official government events, and on Saturday delivered social housing units in Cuautla.
During her visit, Sheinbaum reaffirmed her commitment to public security and social well-being in Cuautla, emphasizing that achieving lasting peace requires addressing the structural causes of violence and expanding opportunities for young people.
She announced a priority plan focused on education and employment, including the construction of at least ten new public high schools to meet growing local demand and the expansion of the Jóvenes Construyendo el Futuro (Youth Building the Future) program.
To ensure the initiative reaches its intended beneficiaries, she confirmed that door-to-door outreach will be conducted to identify young people who are not currently in school and help integrate them into the education system or the labor market in collaboration with local businesses.
